Biography

Born in Hiroshima and raised in Tokyo, she began piano at age of 5.
An active solo pianist and chamber musician Kanade Tsurusawa has performed in Europe, China, and throughout Japan. Kanade has performed as soloists with the Silesian Philharmonic Orchestra, Kraków Chamber Orchestra and Tokyo Philharmonic Ochestra, and has given piano recitals at major venues including Yokosuka Art Theatre.
Kanade obtained a Bachelor of Music degree with the piano department’s highest marks from the Tokyo College of Music where she was mentored by Prof. Reiko Kikuchi, Hironao Suzuki, Toshiko Kiyooka, and Minoru Nojima. She is currently pursuing an Artistic Diploma degree at the Vancouver Academy of Music, with Prof. Lee Kum-Sing.

Kanade has won numerous prizes which include 1st Prize in the Nojima Minoru-Yokosuka Piano Competition, Silver Medal in the International Chopin Piano Competition in ASIA, Bronze Medal in the PTNA Piano Competition in Japan. In 2015, she participated Preliminary round of 17th International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw.
She was supported by YAMAHA Music Foundation during 2015 – 2017.
